About Us
Support the Office of The Controllers and FIU strategic goals by receiving, handling and disposal of certified University surplus property and the delivery of HAZMAT materials procured for the research labs of the University.
Surplus Property
The University Surplus Property warehouse is responsible for the receipt, handling and disposal of certified University Surplus Property incompliance with Florida State Statute Ch.375.055 and FIU Property Control Manual. Our group main goal is to reduce or eliminate the waste generated after receiving surplus items from FIU departments, by finding second life for assets through re-purposing, selling or recycling of at least 99% of the assets retired from service.
Surplus assets are made available to the departments at no cost, on a first come, first serve basis.
To raise awareness about re-purposing surplus property within our University, our team implemented the use of “Microsoft Teams” as a hub for all communication related with Surplus Property. To become a member of our team please click here. To download a local app on your smartphone or computer click Download.
The Surplus property section conducts daily surplus online auction sales to make surplus items available to the general public daily. FIU community members are welcome to register and bid on items as they become available. These items include computers, scientific equipment, furniture, electronics and vehicles. Surplus property sales are conducted online at GovDeals.
At the time of the registration, you will be asked to provide your name, address, and contact information to have your account set up. After your account has been established, bidding works the same way as eBay and other similar auction sites. Your feedback will be highly appreciated, please email surplus team and if you have any questions, we will be happy to assist you.
